The digital transformation that changes the world daily significantly influences children’s behaviour in digital environments, which is the scientific research focus of Marija Šmit, PhD.

After earning her degree at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek (EFOS), majoring in Marketing Management, she continued her academic journey in the Postgraduate Specialist Study of Marketing in Special Fields, where she defended her thesis “Children as Consumers.” In the same program, she was appointed as an assistant.
She defended her doctoral dissertation titled “Children in the Digital Marketing Environment” at the Postgraduate Doctoral Study of Management at EFOS. She has participated in numerous professional and scientific conferences and has published several scientific papers in journals.

Her professional interest, beyond the scientific context, stems from her role as a mother of three preschool and elementary school-aged children. Together, they participate in the research project “Digital Technology in Families: Behavioral Patterns and Effects on Children’s Development.” She is also a member of the Parental Advisory Board for the D.E.C.I.D.E. project.
